Things to do in an around Beachview: At the mouth of the Maitland river lies a magnificent bathing beach backed by huge sand dunes stretching for about 5 kilometers west from Beachview to beyond Blue Water Bay. Kids love the dunes for tobogganing and sandboarding. Maitland River Beach is ideal for leisurely strolls along the waters. Situated just 12 kilometres from Beachview, Seaview Game and Lion Park offers a unique experience. Visitors can play with tame lion cubs varying in age from four to nine months depending on the time of year
About an hour's drive from Beachview, Addo is a small farming town that's best known for its proximity to the Greater Addo Elephant National Park, which is South Africa's first 'Big Seven' reserve. As well as the usual Big Five - rhino, lion, elephant, leopard and buffalo, the park, which extends to the sea and some offshore islands, also offers sightings of southern right whales and (great) white sharks
The area surrounding the Port Elizabeth CBD has a number of historic attractions, many of which are linked by the Donkin Heritage Trail. These include the Campanile (bell tower), built in 1923 to commemorate the arrival of the 1820 Settlers and offering a great viewpoint over the city; the city hall (1862); the Donkin Reserve park and monument; and the old stone Fort Frederick itself (1799). Other attractions include the gardens at St George's Park, the King George VI Art Gallery, the museum and oceanography room at Humewood, and the new Boardwalk waterfront complex.
Port Elizabeth is known commonly as the watersports capital of South Africa and boasts an ever increasing number of watersports events annually. Algoa bay is home to scuba diving, game fishing charters, surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding to name but a few.
