Buccaneers Lodge and Backpackers sprawls across the incline overlooking the lagoon at Chintsa West, on the rugged Wild Coast of South Africa. With unbeatable views of Chintsa beach this ‘backpacker village’ has natural beauty, friendly faces and a homely, welcoming touch. Creativity and nature go hand-in-hand in the simple bright rooms all with a spacious outdoor area to enjoy the stunning view of the ocean and the rustling of the palms around you.
Accommodation
Buccaneers offers a wide range of accommodation options:
• Luxury en-suite doubles all with stunning sea views, private bathroom facilities and sundecks. Towels and linen are included and shared kitchen facilities are available
• Double and Twin rooms in cute little beach cottages, all with a view. All cottages have shaded, bougainvillea covered patios as well as shared bathroom and communal living areas
• Airy dorm accommodation perfect for groups of friends or solo travellers looking to meet like-minded backpackers
• Safari Tents - a great budget option, these permanent tents are available in twins and doubles and offer a luxury alternative to camping. Private sundecks, beds and linen are provided and all tents are an easy distance to communal kitchens and bathrooms
Camping
Nestled behind the giant coastal sand dunes Buccaneers new forest campsite gives you a holiday on a shoe-string! Camp down in-between the guava trees and cultivated indigenous bush. Communal kitchen and living facilities as well as an ablution block are all close by
Breakfast and Dining
After years of perfecting the recipe for success Buccaneers definitely hits the spot when it comes to delicious home-made meals; with reasonable prices, hearty portions and always a good vegetarian selection, self-catering becomes just an option! Breakfasts, lunches and dinner are available every day.
Facilities
Buccaneers has a lively bar, renowned along the Wild Coast for its kick down parties and feel good vibes. All guests have free use of the swimming pool, canoes to paddle up the lazy Chintsa River and the ever popular volleyball court. Our favourite facility to offer is the stunning Chintsa beach-free for all and just minutes’ walk from our door.
Buccaneers also has an internet café, a Beauty Bungalow which offers massage and pampering for those weary backpacker shoulders and a Proudly South African Gift Shop which stocks beautiful locally produced crafts – perfect to take home as souvenirs.
Activities & Attractions
Buccaneers is famous for its daily free activities – join in beach volleyball tournaments, sun downers on the giant sand dunes or take a booze cruise up the Chintsa River – all free activities come with a generous helping of free wine!
Also available to book at Buccaneers are Surf Schools, Beach Horse Trails, Mountain Bike Rides and a tour to visit the infamous Mama Tofu in her traditional Xhosa Village. |
