Fort D' Acre Reserve offers luxury Bed & Breakfast accommodation on the Sunshine Coast of South Africa’s Eastern Cape, uniquely situated adjacent to the Gary Player designed Fish River Sun Golf Course. Enjoy a well-deserved holiday or stopover at this luxurious, secure, private coastal game reserve situated between Port Elizabeth and East London.
Fort D’ Acre is an exclusive thatched safari lodge situated at the mouth of the Great Fish River, 25km from Port Alfred. Its unique positioning, with sweeping views of bush and coastline, invites the visitor to explore contrasting habitats for grassland bushveld, wild seaside and riverine forest. Game drives into the reserve offer opportunities to view 19 different species including white rhino, Cape buffalo and giraffe.
Accommodation
Our stylish lodge is elegantly furnished capturing the spirit of Africa. The comfortable lounge with open fires and indoor dining area offers a cosy alternative in the evening. The 4 en-suite bedrooms (three double rooms and one twin room) all have sweeping views. Relax in the beautiful and peaceful indigenous gardens with huge Coral trees, large swimming pool and braai area. The lodge offers DSTV, DVD player and WiFi.
A wonderful new development is the oceanside lapa, overlooking the beach it is a very special place for a picnic lunch or family barbecue. In the evening relax with a drink while the sun sets and a million stars sparkle in the southern sky. By day watch dolphins and whales and be lulled by the sound of waves washing the white sand.
Weddings
Enjoy that special day with us at Fort d’Acre Reserve! The perfect venue for an intimate romantic wedding, surrounded by sweeping views of bushveld and the sounds of the ocean. For your wedding ceremony you have a choice of having it on the open deck of our Beach Lapa, overlooking the Beach or under the huge Coral trees in the beautiful indigenous gardens.
After the ceremony take a walk on the beach or a drive into the bush for the most memorable wedding photos, while your family and friends relax in the peaceful gardens with a cocktail. For the reception, a marquee can be erected on to the lawns that can accommodate up to 75 guests, here you can enjoy a buffet and the bar facilities. The bridal couple can relax in our Honeymoon Suite with amazing views. Spa treatments can be organized in the privacy of your own Suite. We can assist with all the arrangements from the caterer to the wedding photographer.
Adventure & Exploration
Our game driver is exclusively available to our guests, we can comfortably seat eight in the land rover. You have excellent view to the wildlife from the vehicle and our guide will help spot the animals and get close while keeping you safe. An extensive network of tracks allows you to explore the reserve and also provide access to the beach and lapa, where you might want to enjoy a sundowner before returning to the lodge.
When we have new babies or other special sightings our guide will do his best to locate them for you.
