A stones throw away from the tidal pool and waves and a 10 minute stroll along the famous Gonubie Boardwalk to the safe, popular beach - welcome to Happy's Place - warm Eastern Cape hospitality at its best !
We offer our guests comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated accommodation at affordable rates in a unique, quiet and safe environment with off street parking. We have recently completed the refurbishment and upgrading of our apartments. As a result we are delighted to present our new two bedroom apartment - perfect for the family getaway ! Along with our attention to detail and warm hospitality - Happy's Place is the ideal home from home - whether you are on business, holiday or just stopping over to experience the beauty of the Eastern Cape.
We are within walking distance of the Gonubie Hotel restuarants as well as superb Coffee Shops.We are also in close proximity to the Gonubie business area and further restaurants to suit every taste. Since 1999 we have offered our guests 3 star Tourism Graded quality accommodation. As testimony, countless holiday makers, business people, tourists and friends return to Happy's Place. ACCOMMODATION
The self catering cottages consist of one bedroom units with either single or double beds in bedrooms and double sleeper couches in the living areas. with showers in the bathrooms and a two bedroomed unit with bath and shower. The units sleep from one to six people. The open plan lounge / kitchen has a TV, fridge/freezer, microwave, two plate stove with oven, kettle, toaster, crockery, cutlery glassware etc. All linen as well as towels are supplied. Guests are requested to bring their own beach towels. Each unit has its own private walled garden with a built in braai. Linen is changed for stays longer than 5 days. Garbage is removed and the braai is cleaned daily. The units are strictly no smoking.
Care is taken by your host and hostess, Happy and Jean, that guests are comfortable and settled, assisted by their very efficient caretaker, Elvis Stoza, for all their needs.

ACTIVITIES
Happy's Place if situated close to the bowling green, tennis courts, squash courts and a very well equipped and maintained gym. The Gonubie Golf Course is approximately 5 km away with several other golf courses in the vicinity including the well known East London Golf Course, which is rated amongst one of the best in South Africa, an easy drive of 12 to 15 km away.
Deep sea fishing as well as pleasure trips can be arrangeed at the East London Harbour. Fishing right at our door is a popular activity as well as water sport such as surfing, wind surfing, canoeing etc.
ATTRACTIONS
The Hemmingways Casino / Shopping Mall - one of the largest in the country - is only 15 minutes drive from Happy's Place. Also the East London Museum, famous for hosting the prehistoric Coelacanth Fish, is worth a visit as well as the Anne Bryant Art Gallery. The Lion Farm, where cubs are often fondled by children, a mere 15 minute drive away. The Guild Theatre, hosts shows most of the year as well as smaller theatres hosting popular and well known artists. Definitely worth a visit.
Mpongo Park, a game farm where you can watch the hippos wallowing in the pond while enjoying your Sunday lunch is a worthwhile trip. The now well known Jikeleza Route runs from outside Gonubie toward the east coast where the famous Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve hosts the Big Six - offering magnificent game drives, interaction with elephants and sightings of our very own Hump Back Whale, found nowhere else along the coast. The East London Zoo as well as the Aquarium can also be visited.
An extremely interesting tour through the Mercedes Benz factory can be arranged for a mind boggling experience.
