Kowie River Guest House offers you a unique experience to enjoy all the conveniently situated facilities, whilst relaxing in our beautiful guesthouse on the banks of the magnificent Kowie River.
Our beautiful, well treed garden is filled with abundant birdlife. Some 139 species of birds can be twittered in and around our garden and on the riverbanks. Guests have often sited game animals whilst enjoying their breakfast on our outside deck!
Amazing sunsets can be experienced from our private jetty or from your private patio. Our swimming pool with its surrounding deck is an excellent spot to relax and unwind. We offer braai facilities on the riverfront on request.
Accommodation
Kowie River Guest House offers three comfortable, luxury, double rooms, river facing, each with its own separate entrance. Our large family room has direct access to the river.
The rooms all have their own river facing, private patio’ equipped with a gas griller, two plate hob, utensils and a prep bowl. The modern river facing rooms all have stylish, full en suite bathrooms. The bathrooms include a walk-in shower, free standing bath, toilet, double basin and heated towel rail.
A desk, flat screen TV, plus satellite TV, wireless internet, extra length beds, American shutters, digital safe, bar fridge, microwave oven and tea & coffee making facilities complete the splendidly furnished rooms. Parking is off road.
PORT ALFRED
Port Alfred is situated on the Route 72, midway between East London and Port Elizabeth, exactly 150km either way. Port Alfred boasts more sunshine days per year than any other area in South Africa and is simply known as “The Kowie” by the locals.
The 29 km navigable tidal river runs through the beautiful frontier town of Port Alfred and offers water sport enthusiasts endless choices. Nature lovers can book an overnight canoe trip to the Horse Shoe and explore the upper reaches of the beautiful Kowie River.
The warm Indian Ocean, temperate climate, pristine endless beaches, make Port Alfred a popular holiday destination. Kelly’s beach is a blue flag beach. Port Alfred offers a friendly village atmosphere where visitors can browse our diverse range of shops and enjoy the many coffee shops, cocktail bars, wine bars and restaurants. Port Alfred offers numerous sporting facilities to suite most preferences.
The Royal Port Alfred Golf Course and the Fish River Sun Golf Course are superb golfing layouts offering golfers, of all handicaps, a chance to test their golfing skills. Water sports, hiking, cycling, tennis, bowls, fishing (river, rock & surf & Game fishing) are just some of the recreational facilities offered. Game farms nearby offer fantastic game viewing including the Big 5! Port Alfred has an airfield 5km from town. The airfield is home to 43 Air School. |
