Lupela Lodge is situated in a peaceful and scenic valley in the Witteberg Mountains and is hidden in a gorge that opens into a wide valley of green pastures and sandstone mountainsides. Lupela is situated within easy reach of Lady Grey town and is near to Joubert’s Pass - the 3rd highest in the country. Although Lupela is a convenient 5km from the tar road, you will feel like you have stepped into another, more tranquil world. Awesome fly-fishing, warm hospitality and great food keep Lupela's guests returning year after year.
Accommodation
The Lodge
This spacious self-catering lodge overlooking the beautiful Karnemelkspruit river has 5 en-suite bedrooms and sleeps a maximum of 10 people. Three bedrooms are inside the Lodge and two bedrooms are entered from the stoep. The Lodge has an open plan lounge, dining room, pub and kitchen.
The kitchen is fully equipped with hot water, electric stove, fridge, microwave- oven and outside braai facilities. Lounge with big fireplace and a pub area. Bedrooms are fitted with comfortable ¾ beds in all 5 rooms with crisp clean white bedding and towels. Electric blankets provided for icy winter nights. The Lodge is serviced once a day. For catered groups all meals are served in the Lodge except if stated other wise.
The Silo
This charming building was used as a grain store before being converted into a small cottage. It consists of an en-suite bedroom with a queen size bed on the first level. The bedroom has a reed ceiling, white linen and an electric blanket when needed. A lounge / kitchen area at ground level with a small fridge, microwave, two burner gas stove and braai facilities on a spacious stoep. The Silo is serviced once a day.

Lupela offers flexible catered and self-catered options to suit your requirements. Pre-booking of meals is required.

Please let us know if you are celebrating a birthday or anniversary during your stay as we can provide a surprise cake or champagne at a reasonable additional cost. There is no shortage of things to do in and around Lupela Lodge. Activities include:
• Fly-fishing for wild trout and yellowfish on Lupela’s highly rated river
• Birdwatching including trips to the nearby Cape Vulture breeding colony
• Hiking trails including guided tours to rock art sites
• River rafting and tubing when river conditions allow
• Horse riding
• 4x4 trails and scenic drives
• Riverside picnics
